RESIDENTS in Bolton could have been forgiven for thinking remakes of several Hollywood blockbusters were being filmed in the town recently.
For spotted on the streets were several Batmobiles, the Ghostbusters and their Ecto-1 ambulance, Transformers, Smokey and the Bandit’s Trans Am, cars from various Bond films plus the four wheel stars of other film greats like the Dukes of Hazzard, Tomb Raider and Back to the Future.
Also Star Wars and Transformers characters plus dozens of Stormtroopers were on parade as Stars & Cars came to Bolton Arena.
Raising an estimated £30k plus for Chorley’s Derian House Children’s Hospice the event was a sell out with over 4,000 people queuing around the block to see some amazing vehicles and lookalikes of their favourite film characters.
Joint organiser Colin Wilby said it was the third time the show had come to Bolton and was the biggest and most successful yet with over 40 vehicles were on display.
One owner, motoring journalist Martin Ward who has the 1964 Fiat 500D from the latest Indiana Jones movie, said: “It is for such a good cause that we were all happy to bring our cars along and it was a real fun family day out for everyone.”
