The famous blue bottle returns with a new look, lower-alcohol wines and a new generation of drinkers in its sights.

Once one of the most recognisable bottles on British dinner tables, Blue Nun is back in the UK. The iconic German wine brand has returned to UK shelves with a fresh look and two easy-drinking wines, a 9% ABV Riesling and a 10% white wine, as it introduces itself to a new generation of wine drinkers.

Founded in Germany in 1921, Blue Nun became a household name worldwide and introduced generations of British drinkers to wine. More than one billion bottles have been sold worldwide, and the brand is now available in 64 countries.

While the famous blue bottle remains, Blue Nun has been given a makeover for 2026, with cleaner, contemporary branding and wines designed for today’s more relaxed approach to drinking.

Blue Nun for 2026
The new UK range starts with two fruit-forward German whites.

Blue Nun Authentic White – 10% ABV
Available at Ocado and DrinksSupermarket.com, £7.50
Tasting Notes: Fresh and easy-drinking, with flavours and aromas of apple, peach and citrus, plus a touch of sweetness. Its fruit-forward style makes it particularly good with foods that are traditionally tricky to pair with wine, including spicy dishes, Asian food and anything with a little sweetness or umami. Try it with grilled chicken, seafood, Thai food or a Friday-night takeaway.

Blue Nun Authentic Riesling – 9% ABV
Available at DrinksSupermarket.com, £8.49
Tasting Notes: Made from grapes grown in Germany’s Rheinhessen region, this is a fruit-forward 100% Riesling with vibrant tropical flavours, lively acidity and a subtle sweetness. At just 9% ABV, it’s a lighter option for wine drinkers and pairs particularly well with sushi, seafood, aromatic and lightly spiced dishes, salads, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Alternatively, it can be enjoyed as a light dessert wine.

A Familiar Name for a New Generation

Blue Nun’s return comes at a time when wine drinking is becoming increasingly informal, with consumers seeking approachable wines that don’t require expert knowledge to enjoy. That was precisely what made Blue Nun such a phenomenon in the first place. Created more than a century ago, the brand built its reputation for making German wine easy to recognise, easy to choose and easy to drink, and it eventually became the bestselling German wine brand of all time.

More than 100 years after the first bottle appeared, Blue Nun hopes that its combination of nostalgia, an unmistakable blue bottle and lighter, approachable wines can make it a familiar sight on British tables once again.

Now owned by Les Grands Chais de France (GCF), Blue Nun has been refreshed while retaining the distinctive blue bottle that made it famous.
