LOCATION, location, location is the title of a well-known TV show… and also a priority when it comes to choosing a hotel.

So it proved on our visit to Weetwood Hall, just a few miles from Leeds town centre, which is an impressive hotel and conference centre, parts of which date back to 1540 and includes a 17th-century Jacobean Manor House set on a nine-acre estate with woodlands and gardens.

A surprising find so close to a major city centre which makes it a great choice for a weekend getaway or short stop over, especially as Leeds boasts an impressive list of high end shops and popular department stores.

Walking tours, including a ghost themed experience, art galleries and museums, including the famous Royal Armouries, are other top attractions in Leeds and also nearby are historic piles Kirkstall Abbey and Harewood House – both well worth a visit.

The hotel is also ideally placed for exploring the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors with its many top tourist attractions and amazing countryside to explore.

There are 114 stylish bedrooms, including family-friendly accommodation, four-poster feature bedrooms and superior double bedrooms while The Brasserie restaurant serves superb Yorkshire cooking – there is even a pub on site.

The Stables has local ales alongside a variety of top tipples and when we visited on a damp mid-week night was busy with hotel guests and locals – many students from the nearby university.

A tasty steak and piping hot fish dish in the hotel’s impressive restaurant proved the credentials of the kitchen before we retired to our large double bedroom which boasted all the creature comforts in a stately home style setting.

Weetwood also has award-winning meeting and conference rooms, plus two rooms in the Manor House licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships.

There are sports facilities for training camps and free parking (with EV chargers) plus complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi to make your stay perfect.

So with room rates from £120 B&B based on 2 people sharing, whether it is countryside rambling or retail therapy you are after Weetwood Hall is the ideal location.
