Ever wondered how some people can play piano effortlessly with confidence, learn songs within hours, improvise or even play by ear? A groundbreaking new piano method now makes these skills easily accessible by replacing traditional sheet music with an ingeniously simple system that mirrors how we ‘hear’ music.

Inspired by techniques used by pop legends like Sir Paul McCartney, it has helped over 55,000 people aged from 50 to 96, both absolute beginners, as well as experienced players.

Results are so impressive that DecPlay has been:-

  • featured on the BBC
  • awarded a patent
  • highest-rated piano method on Trustpilot.

Here are some of the inspiring stories from DecPlay students:-

Fulfilling My Lifelong Dream (Aged 60)

“I had wanted to play piano for years but always struggled reading traditional music notation and I felt a failure. I then came across DecPlay and must admit I was sceptical that I would be able to learn, but I decided to give it a go.

Amazingly I was able to play my first song within a couple of hours and enjoyed it so much I was playing every day.

Within weeks I found the flexibility in my hands improved significantly and an unexpected benefit is the arthritis pain has reduced so much that I don’t take any anti-inflammatories now. I’ve learnt dozens of songs, from The Beatles to Beethoven and it has boosted my confidence more than I can ever say.”

Impressing the Family at 79

“I tried to learn piano as a child but couldn’t get to grips with reading sheet music and I gave up altogether. Many decades later, I thought I would give it another go and joinedDecPlay at age 79. I was astounded when in only a few hours, my podgy fingers became able to play Amazing Grace, with both hands, albeit with a few stumbles.

I was hooked and straight away, playing piano became my 2nd favourite hobby … well nothing quite beats golf!

Despite having always thought I just ‘wasn’t musical’, within a few months, I was able to use the DecPlay method to start writing my own songs. I’ve now written over a dozen and surprised 3 generations at a family reunion, when I got up on the piano and performed a song I had written about them all :)”

Finding Piano ‘Fun’ at 95

Years ago, Dee passed Grade 8 piano but never actually enjoyed playing, and eventually stopped altogether. Many decades later, after losing her husband, she wanted to lift her spirits and play piano again — but this time to have ‘fun’ and experience the joys of music. She didn’t want to return to the traditional methods and so decided to give the DecPlay method a try at age 95.

Within hours, she was playing songs she enjoyed — without using traditional sheet music. She has progressed to learning dozens of songs and playing new styles like the blues.

The DecPlay system uses an intuitive system of numbers and patterns that mirrors how we ‘hear’ music. This avoids the need to read the complicated ‘dots’ on sheet music and makes playing piano easy, fast and fun. It also enables playing in multiple styles and advanced skills, including improvisation and playing by ear.

“I think if you’re in a situation where you’ve lost somebody and lost your previous life, well then this is absolutely wonderful. Because it’s fulfilling, enjoyable, it’s not taxing and you can just get on with it. You’ve saved my life.

I share my piano videos with my grandchildren and they pass them round to their friends at work – it’s really wonderful!”
