National Doughnut Week 2015

9th – 16th May 2015

Children’s charity that supports Nottingham children with brain injury to benefit from proceeds during fundraising week

National Doughnut Week is taking place 9th-16th May 2015 and all proceeds raised will be donated to The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury. The charity provides rehabilitation to children with acquired brain injury, helping them to make the best recovery possible after a serious accident or illness.

The children’s charity also works in partnership with children’s hospitals, including Nottingham Children’s Hospital, by providing a brain injury specialist.

The award-winning service supports any child or young person who attends Nottingham Children’s Hospital, as a result of an accident or illness affecting their brain. The brain injury specialist brings doctors, teachers, social services and families together to make sure each child has the best support possible.

The Children’s Trust also offers the services of the charity’s brain injury community team, a multi-disciplinary team who work with children in their own communities across the UK, including Nottingham and surrounding areas.  Many children with brain injury make a good physical recovery but are left with serious and long-term ‘invisible’ difficulties. It helps children in their homes, their schools and in their relationships with the people around them.

The week is also supported by cricket legend and Ambassador of The Children’s Trust, Phil Tufnell, who has been encouraging bakers and cafes to get creative with their doughnuts. Every doughnut sold during the week raises money for The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury.

Phil Tufnell, Ambassador of The Children’s Trust said:

“I do hope that bakers, coffee shops and the public in Nottingham will get behind this year’s National Doughnut Week and help to raise as much money as possible for a very special charity”.

Lisa Boswell from sponsor CSM Bakery Solutions said:

“We’re proud to be sponsoring National Doughnut Week and delighted that the proceeds raised go towards funding the charity’s Brain Injury Specialists in Nottingham.  It’s such a worthwhile cause and we urge the local community to get involved and help support this special charity.”
